Wow. Do you like comic books? Do you like "choose your own
adventure"
style books? Do you like mystery novels/movies with good stories? If
you
answered yes to those questions then you should have a serious look at
a
game called Snatcher for the Sega CD. This 10 hour game will suck you
into
the story and investigation. The music in this game sets the mood very
well
and the pace of the game does not get boring at any point. Some of the
artwork in this game is very impressive (there is a lot of blood and
gore
too, teehee!) and there is a massive amount of voice acting unlike
anything
I've played on the Sega CD (minus the digital picture games). The
ending is
just about 25 minutes long!
The story is
set in the future (2047) so the
game has a nice sci-fi look and feel to it. To help you with your
investigation is this cool little Robot called "metal gear". You can
do all
kinds of things with him like make video phone calls to people you
need
information from or to set up meetings. There are quite a few people
you
need to call and lots of areas you need to explore and investigate.
What
keeps this game very interesting is that you have lost your memory and
slowly the story begins to fill in the gaps and many are very
surprising.
The actual gameplay consists of you going to an area and you have a menu
appear at the bottom of the screen and you can select such commands as
"LOOK" "INVESTIGATE" and others, and each of the commands usually have
subcommands. For example in "LOOK" you will have "look at desk", "look
in
locker", etc. depending on what area/room you are in. Besides all the
voice
acting in this game (which is pretty good) there is a ton of text
also. The
text is easy to read and doesn't get tedious. Like I said the game has
a
good pace to it.
If you own a
Sega CD and you answered YES to the opening
questions then this game is a must have. In the end I will say this:
this
is one game I will never forget......wow!
