Well I have not played any strategy games
before (at least not for long)
unless you count sim-city games (which I guess you would) So I don't have
much to compare by. I can say this. I normally don't go for this type of
thing but this game has me up till 2:30 on a work night.
First it has an intriguing storyline, the Borg are on an all out assault
on
the federation, a Starship from the future comes to tell Picard that in
the
future the whole alpha quadrant is Borgized. Picard being his usual good
boy
self is all like "you are violating the temporal prime directive wah wah
wah..." then the guy is like "Damn the prime directive we are almost
extinct!" The Klingons are also infighting over the sword of Kahlis and
who
gets to be the big dog ect... and of course the battle you are about to
fight determines how the universe will end up. There are lots of decent
cinema scenes which add to the story but are a little cheesy cause the
mouths and eyes are the only parts of the faces that move.
Now the gameplay is what really grabbed me. It works like this, you have
these builder ships which you use to make dilithium mines and the
dilithium
lets you build more stuff like space stations (where you can build more
builder ships) and ship yards and gun turrets (and more stuff depending on
your mission) You can take your ship and disable other ships and then beam
people over to take control... now you have 2 ships. I used Worf on one
Mission and by the time I was done I had like 3 or 4 big ships a couple of
klingon birds of prey and then I went and beat the dogpiss out of this
huge
guy that was beating my ass at the beginning of the level. After that the
guy escaped into a wormhole and you go back to Picard where lo and behold
you get to go take control of all kinds of ships because the borg stole
all
the crews. so thats like Christmas here ya go about 40 ships and you don't
even have to fight for them. Killer game I repeat Killer game. I wish I
could leave work right now and play it. and some day when my company is
rich
and I'm a VP thats exactly what I will do all day. Tell people I'm in a
meeting and Play Armada for 8 hours and then go home.
