A Brief History of Ladyhawk's Life
I consider myself a damn good cook. I sew and
crochet (repair all clothes, curtains, blankets, wedding dress,
pretty much anything). I also have many hairdressing
skills, such as cuts, streaks, dying, etc. Not only do I
cut everyone's hair in our little family I also cut for friends
and extended family as well. I have a excellent sense of
direction (I'm the one always giving out directions cause my
wonderful hubby gets lost in his own house hehehe). I do
lots of "manly things" like cocking, tiling, and other
house repairs etc.. I take care of problems with car
(mostly). I'm an outstanding helper of personal problems
(since high school friends and family have often called for
advice. I'm pretty PC smart and I've even taken an IQ test
along with my hubby and I scored a bit higher! :) :) And the
only reason why I want to mention that is everyone thinks my
hubby is a genius, he's good at everything and for some reason
some family members think of me as less then what I am. So
I feel often that I have to prove that I am just as qualified as
any other. An example of this is when we took the IQ test
my own Mother was stunned that I actually scored higher then
Blaze and asked me "are you sure you took the test right?"
It offends me when not only as a woman but as a bright human
being that some people still don't give me the respect I feel
I've earned.
'My father (Robert) was English
and my mother (Rejeanne) is French. My parents separated
before I was 2 years old. I mostly lived with my Mother
who remarried a French man named (Gilles pronounced Jill but with
soft J) when I was 5. I lived with them till I was 14 and
then moved to my Dad's who had also remarried (Ester) and lived
with my Dad for a year until he passed away in 1988. I
then moved back to my Mom's. We didn't have much money at
my Mom's so I had a lot of "hand me downs", not much toys and
was made aware that there wasn't a Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy
etc.. We drank glasses of water before meals to help fill
us up, and we all (my brother Grant, step-brother Stephanne and
I) shared the same bath water after my mother took her bath once
a week. As you can see I had a pretty rough childhood
except for the year spent at my Fathers. At my Dad's it
was the total opposite, I got new clothes, good food, toys,
pretty much anything I wanted and then having to go back to my
Mom's after was very difficult. The next 2 years were
pretty much a haze....
At the age of 17 is when I met
the man of my dreams (Blaze). With all the stuff that
happened to him and all the stuff that happened to me we knew it
was fate that brought us together. Things were difficult
after I was kicked out and then again after we left Blaze's
Dads. Besides our money problems (having only the one
welfare) we had no family support, in fact at first both sides
tried everything to pull us apart. Even various friends
tried to break us up, but HA! We are still here today and
have built and continue to build a family life that we have
always wished for. Amazingly enough I am an
optimist, seeing where I came from there was only one way to go
UP!
I have to say that in recent
years I've renewed my relationship with my favorite uncle on my
Dad's side (Uncle Pete) and he reminds me so much of my Dad and
they have so much in common. He has shown much support,
given us help and is wonderful with my children. And the
same goes for my Mother and Gilles, they have also really been
there for us in my adult life and are the main "nana and poppa"
and our kids absolutely adore them. So while I may have
said some negative things about my past, they are all there now
for us and for the kids and all is forgiven :)
I'm thrilled with our house and
our location and can't wait to get started on the decor, and
other projects such as my garden and all those white picket
fence dreams that many girls have. Both Blaze and I chose
that I should stay home to give our kids the time and effort
both of us felt we didn't have as children. Its worked out
really well for us but of course its different for every family.
That's pretty much all I want to write about for now since Blaze
already wrote many key points in our life together and I leave
you all with my favorite quotes:
"I'm flying without wings"
"Remember, great love & great
achievements involve great risk"
"There are no strangers, just
friends that you have yet to meet" |
